What is Gabbly? Gabbly is a chat service that allows you to chat around any webpage. Its free to use on your personal page or commercial webpage.
How do I use Gabbly to chat on a webpage? Simply type gabbly.com/ in front of a webpages URL, you will be able to chat with anyone visiting the page at the same time! For example, to chat on CNN.com, just visit 'gabbly.com/cnn.com' in your browser. Youll see the CNN website with the Gabbly Chat window floating on top.
Is there anything to download or install? Nope! Theres no need to download or install anything. If you have a web browser, you can chat.
Which browsers does Gabbly support? We currently support the following browsers: Firefox 1.5, IE 6.0, Safari 2.0, Flock We're looking to support others soon, including: Opera, IE 7.0
How can I find more people to chat with? We're working on providing an innovative way to introduce popular and open chats. In the meantime, check the forum for a list of places that have integrated Gabbly Chat to their page: Also, invite your friends to chat on a page!
Can I embed the chat window into my page?
Absolutely. Just take the following steps:
1) Visit the Gabbly homepage
2) Click on the Embed tab
3) Fill in your desired width and height for the chat window and your webpage URL.
4) The code will be generated in the box below. Place it into your page's html, and the Gabbly Chat window will appear on your site.
5) Everyone who visits your page will then be able to chat with one another!
After you embed the chat into your site, please list it in the forum topic, Places to Chat. This way, you can let more people know about this site.
Embedding isnt working on my page. what's wrong? Certain sites do not allow Gabbly Chat to be embedded. Instead, you can create a link on your page that takes you to the Gabblified version of your page. When users click on the link, they will be brought back to your page with a Gabbly Chat window floating on top.
What's the privacy level while surfing with Gabbly? We do not proxy the pages that you surf. This means that we do not see anything that you type outside of the Gabbly Chat window. If youre signing into a user account, Gabbly does not get to see that information. In the chat window, though, please be aware that it is a public chat.
I have a great idea and a bug report for Gabbly. Who do I tell? Please post your thoughts to the forum. We are checking it regularly and doing our best to respond to all comments and ideas. We are prioritizing our feature builds and debugging based on the communitys feedback, so you will certainly be heard.
What can I do when people spam or harass me? You can mute people by simply clicking on their name in the gabbers list in the right window. The offender will still be sending messages to other people in the topic, but you will no longer receive them. You can unmute a person by clicking his or her name again.
New! How can I make money from a chat? We are letting registered users replace our ads with your own ads. That means you earn money from the ads that are displayed on the chat. You just have to signup at any ad network or affiliate program such as friendfinder.com and register to find out how to put the ad up.
